Robert Monroe
Biography
Robert Monroe (1915-1995), American audio researcher and consciousness pioneer, began experiencing spontaneous out-of-body experiences (OBEs) in 1958 while experimenting with sleep-learning audio. A successful telecommunications executive, he documented these in 'Journeys Out of the Body' (1971), followed by 'Far Journeys' (1985) and 'Ultimate Journey' (1994). He founded the Monroe Institute in Virginia, developing Hemi-Sync binaural beats for altered states. His work intersected military/government programs; the U.S. Army trained remote viewers there for the Stargate Project, linking OBEs and psychic spying to intelligence. Collaborated with parapsychologists like Charles Tart, influencing figures like physicist Tom Campbell. No direct UAP testimony, but techniques relate to UFO-related consciousness exploration.
