Daryl Bem
Biography
Daryl Bem (born 1938), American psychologist and professor emeritus at Cornell University, is renowned for his self-perception theory but gained controversy in paranormal research with his 2011 paper 'Feeling the Future' in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. The study reported evidence from nine experiments suggesting precognition, where participants anticipated future events like image locations, including erotic stimuli. No direct involvement in UAP/UFO research, military, or government UFO programs is documented; his work focused on psi phenomena such as precognition and telepathy. Replications yielded mixed results, with a meta-analysis of 90 studies showing positive effects, though critics highlighted methodological issues. Bem's research challenged scientific norms but remains unlinked to UFO fields.
