Biography

Dr. Bruce Greyson is an American psychiatrist and Chester Carlson Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia. His career began with a pivotal patient encounter post-medical school, sparking decades of research into near-death experiences (NDEs). He co-founded the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS) and edited its Journal of Near-Death Studies for 27 years. Greyson developed the influential Near-Death Experience Scale in 1983, identifying universal NDE themes transcending culture and neurophysiology. Affiliated with UVA's Division of Perceptual Studies, he has authored over 100 publications, consulted for the NIH, and spoken at the UN and Dalai Lama's compound. No direct involvement in UAP/UFO research or military/government UFO programs is documented; his work centers on consciousness and survival after death.
