Michael A. Persinger (1945–2018) war ein amerikanisch-kanadischer Professor für Psychologie an der Laurentian University, wo er von 1971 bis zu seinem Tod tätig war. Er ist vor allem für die Entwicklung des "God Helmet" bekannt, eines Gerätes, das schwache Magnetfelder zur Stimulation der Temporallappen nutzt – etwa 80% der über 900 Probanden berichteten von einer "gefühlten Präsenz."
